3/29 - HELP! Stray pit bull in danger

I know I haven't been of any help like I was hoping to be, due to financial problems that have hit me, but I don't know where else to go for help.

Currently I am at a friends' house in the Hickory Hill area of Memphis. There is a pit bull that has been running loose for a week or so. He is not neutered and is skinny. I do not think anyone has been feeding him. The neighbors expressed interest in taking him to use as a fighting dog (I don't know if they have ever fought dogs or not). He is friendly and playful, but I do not know how he would react to other dogs, animals, or kids. He has reacted fine to me and my husband and one of our friends that have interacted with him today. He is white with a black splotch over the right eye and his ears have been cut off. The street name is Briarbend Lane near the Hickory Hill and Shelby intersection. Unfortunately I am not able to call anyone due to my phone bill being past due, but I can receive calls and possibly ask the friends if I can use their phone to call if it's absolutely necessary. Call at any time, I don't mind. I would take this dog in myself, but I cannot afford it and have no space to keep him until I know he would behave with my pit and cat. I have sent an email to a friend that can possibly take him or help by contacting Hearts of Gold, but I don't think she has received the message yet. I really don't want to see the neighbors get him. :(
