The Truth
Pitbulls, what image does this word conjure up in your mind? It is amazing how extremely different the responses are to this question. For some, their knowledge of these dogs is limited strictly to what they have heard on the news or read on some morning headline.

For others, they have tragic tales of their experience with “Pit” dogs. While still others stand shoulder to shoulder with each other to defend the pitbull breed. This includes American Pitbull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers and mixed breeds.

How can one word spark such different reactions? How is it possible that so many people can have such extremely opposite opinions about these canines?

The answer is easy. It is human nature to fear things we don’t know anything about and in turn, try to destroy it. It is also human nature to defend what we are familiar with and love.
